(ORLANDO)—Bookstore owner Alex Polk wrote a generation-defining novel, only no one knows it, and she likes it that way. But when her grad school nemesis taunts her with his (very) minor success, she has to fight to keep her cool and keep her secret. The Next Step Screenplay Series will present a reading of a new feature-length comedy script, POLK FICTION at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, at Bynx Orlando, 420 E Church St. #118, Orlando.

Banner for Polk Fiction at Next Step Screenplay Series“I started writing POLK FICTION as an idea for a TV sitcom back in 2014,” said Erik Deckers, screenwriter and founder of Orlando Theatre Review. “Over the years, the roles changed and grew as I started working with actors on different scenes and episodes. This led to several new episodes and recordings. When I was asked to put together a full-length script, I jumped at the chance.”n

POLK FICTION stars Toni Deckers, Demián Castro, Joe Llorens, Eden Shultz, Bryan Da Silva, Yago Lupi, Jim Serrano, Sheryl Carbonell, Franny Titus, and Carol Saragusa. The show is co-directed by Demián Castro and Kimberly DiPersia. It’s produced by All The Line Studio & Incubator.

POLK FICTION bannerCo-director Kimberly DiPersia said: “We are excited to give POLK FICTION a second evolution from its original filmed webisode format. It’s a fresh comedy with well-developed, fun characters, wrapped in a unique premise and storyline. In addition, having the good fortune of the majority of the cast returning to reprise their roles makes it a bit of a reunion show, so to speak, while at the same time garnering a brand-new audience and fanbase. We always look to take on new scripts and stories every month, and this is a wonderful addition to our season.”

The Next Step Screenplay Series is produced by All The Line Studio & Incubator and gives emerging and experienced screenwriters an opportunity to hear their words live, performed by professional actors before an audience, and afterward receive feedback in a Q&A session. Staged on the last Monday of the month, Next Step is simply another step in the creative process. Writers discover how their words sound and see how their characters come to life.
